Awareness campaign for Mental Health Awareness Week

What they asked for

Rise's key worker Jaki Duffy runs an holistic project for men in Berwick. It focuses on improving opportunities and helping men aged 16 to 30 through challenges which could include poor mental health, unemployment and isolation.

I was asked to plan a campaign, that coincided with mental health awareness week - and showcased the amazing work that Jaki does to a wider audience.

What I did

Working with Jaki and the wider team, I identified that a personal story would be the quickest way to get buy-in from the media, and resonate with people online.

She identified Deacon as someone who was willing to tell his story. I then worked with local videographer Cronnie Creative to shoot a video that told Deacon's story in a sensitive and empathetic way.

What I delivered

  • Video case study for YouTube - and shorts for social media

  • Social media plan

  • Press release and media relations to gain media coverage - including an interview with Deacon

  • News story for website

  • Engagement from key local stakeholders including funders and local council.
